Dinamo Bucuresti (Romania)
Dinamo started this tie as big favorites, but nothing went well in the first leg and now they must win this game to qualify. Not any win will do it, if they concede a goal than they will need to score more in order to go through.
The first leg started off with Vorskla scoring the first goal, but then Dinamo started dominating the match, equalizing to 1 and hit the post twice. However, central defender Dragos Grigore was sent off in the 64th minute, which eventually led to Dinamo conceding a late goal that puts Vorskla in a good spot at this moment.
Probably the most important news this week in Romanian football is that midfielder Gabriel Torje was sold to Udinese for a fee around 6 million euro. However, he will be able to play against Vorskla, but this is a huge loss for Dinamo on long term.
Dinamo is having some serious squad issues, Marius Niculae who scored the goal in the first tie, winger Alexe and defender Grigore who was sent off are all suspended for this game, while right and left-back, Scarlatache and Pulhac are injured.
Vorskla Poltava (Ukraine)
According to football.ua, Vorskla’s players and coach declared that the goal scored by Dinamo could turn out to be important and that the Romanians can keep a good possession which may give them troubles, but they will travel to Bucharest with the intent of offering a huge joy to their fans by qualifying to the group stages.
From what I saw in the first leg, Vorslka is not a team with great individualities, but they compensate by aggressiveness and the physical strength of their players. Shakhtar Donetks’s coach Mircea Lucescu said that Vorskla is a team that always gave them troubles and his team has not won against them with more than one goal difference since 2005.
Vorskla are currently 6th in the Ukrainian league after seven games, not losing any of their away games, in fact they haven’t even conceded a goal in three games played on the road.
The betting verdict:
Steaua Bucuresti, Rapid Bucuresti and FC Vaslui, 3 out of 5 Romanian teams that play in this competition are almost qualified for the group stages after conclusive wins in the first leg. Dinamo, a team that has maximum points after 4 stages in the Romanian league and despite playing against a relatively weaker opponent, could miss the qualification if they won’t be able to win.
I will take Dinamo to win, because it’s obvious that they are the better team if we take each player individually, but keep the stakes low, because I have some doubts, Dinamo usually manages to surprise in a negative way.
